Amanda and Her Cousin Amy, Valdese, North Carolina, USA, 1990
(catalog number 214H-143-002)
IN 1990, Peter Howe at Life magazine sent me to North Carolina to photograph a special school for children with problems. The school was a very strange place because all of the twenty or so children were in the same classroom and their problems ranged from mild behavior instability to severe schizophrenia.
Nine-year-old Amanda was the most interesting child in the class. She was my favorite child. Amanda was very intelligent and very naughty. One day I followed her home on the school bus. When the bus stopped at her house, she dashed ahead of me and ran into a nearby wooded area. I continued to follow her into the woods and eventually found her sitting in an old stuffed chair having a cigarette. She thought that I would reprimand her since I was an adult. But I said nothing.
The following Sunday, I spent the day at home with Amanda and her mother. Amanda totally controlled her mother. She constantly gave her orders and proceeded to put on her mother’s nail polish and makeup. Amanda smoked openly in front of her. Her 8-year-old cousin Amy was coming over, and she was very excited. All day long, Amanda and her cousin played like children. Every forty-five minutes or so, Amanda would take a break to have a cigarette. Her mother could say nothing; Amanda was the boss.
Just before I left, I looked for Amanda to say good-bye. I found her and Amy in the backyard. They were in a children’s inflatable pool. Amanda was taking her regular cigarette break.

light and darkness

in the most blogs it’s typically that author tries to present himself as a very clever person, indeed he could be, but i think its much harder to read it, believe it, and take something out of it. i think a blog should be an easy to understand monologue, presenting his ideas as clear as possible. of course the blogger is pleased to dig deeper into the content, but even though foreign words are able to decrease the amount of words without decreasing the content, a blog should be readable without looking up words.

presently i’m listening to janet jackson, a couple of weeks ago i found it on a bunch of crap. soft listening music especially for working ambient needs. generally i read that popular music is the best for working: it doenst distract you because of unfamiliar melodies or lyrics. further its the best (i read) to avoid music and tv while reading. sounds logical heh? visitors of earth, have a good night, and sleep well.

wednesday is a lucky day

he psychonauts! how are you doing? fine? well then i’m going to tell you that this day is my relaxing day, besides a meeting at 2 pm. just at the moment i stumbled upon this video: Are Bloggers Journalists? it’s possible that bloggers arent journalists, but they’re less into corruption than printmedia is. well, if you earn money with blogging, you’ll get corrupt, too, think so. okay, where am i? you should really check out the others tumblr blog, very nice coloration and pictures. i’m a colourlover thats for sure :-)

work work work!

hello my dear readers, i’m in a good mood, everything’s just fine. the argumentation with my comrad ended fortunately. at the moment, i am drinking coffee and doing backup stuff. accidently i stumbled over the i-ching - again. after studying further readings i began to lookup various religions. very interesting, but in fact a lot more complex than i thought religion is. hum, i planned going on a concert this evening, but i’m very into google’s chrome, too, which is released (as i read) tonight, no matter what -  eating noodles & meat makes me feel good (you should try it)! and yea, i recently found the “hyperlink” feature.

same day, huh?

hello again folks, babes and ladies. just a litte big angry, cause someone i am “working” with doesnt see that i’m the guy who’s makin announcements of what is just to do - and how to do it. those people are hard to handle, specially when they’re friends, well in this case i’ve to seperate buisness and friendship. kicking him out of buisness isnt easy, but its a lot easier working alone (further getting more cash). whatever, i am out of tune.

good morning oldenburg

good morning oldenburg, a small town near bremen right under the coast of our northsea. city festival: i want to upload some pics but i forgot to take these, so you have to deal with my text explanation. first, there were a lot of much younger kids then the other days, i think the word ‘teenagers’ represents the mob more precisely. second: i just couldn’t figure out if the deejays were drunk, but it’s a good indication that they played tunes we used to hear in 2004 - 2006? 18 stages, and there wasnt a single one where music was hearable. jeez - thirdly, went home early. in fact there wasnt a role for a girl intended, the whole ambience wasnt it worth spending hours in such crowds. love is not big truth.

motivation anyone?

he, i recently found out that, well, i am more motivated then doing some other blog projects. whatever, second post this evening - i was wandering, yea, and i played my guitar ‘ellen’ under our canal bridge, some old songs, and new songs i’m guessing that these would flash my folks (somehow), the view was fantastic as always, and there weren’t even clouds in the sky. is there something that could improve this situation? yes, a damn good reverb and a lot of motor boat drivebys. in fact its always a great idea stay in touch with nature and loneliness.

in contrast to the before mentioned ‘i won’t go out today’ msg, i will. an old friend invited me to join his party, then driving to our city festival. don’t worry i’ll summarize it in the next post. and why am i sure, that there’s a role of a girl guaranteed? guess what - i don’t give a fuck. cya tomorrow.
